Lord Adder is a Maltese Heavy Metal band which was first formed in October 1992. The original line-up consisted of Mark Spiteri on vocals, bass and song-writing, Aldo Spiteri on guitar, Norbert Camilleri on keyboards and Ray Micallef on drums. A few years later, Darren Mercieca was asked to take the reign from Mark and join in on bass leaving Mark to concentrate on vocals and song writing.
After numerous successful performances in major rock clubs in Malta such as Harlequin and Rock Café to name a few, it was time for the band to take their music away from their homeland and in August 1993 Lord Adder played at the famous London venues ‘The Marquee’ and ‘The Garage’.
A year later, in August 1994 they headed back to London to record their debut album ‘Hemlock’ which was recorded at Fair Deal Studios in Middlesex. The trip led them to perform for the 2nd time at ‘The Marquee’ however this time as the headline act. ‘Hemlock’ was then released in March 1995 and featured the track ‘Lord Adder’ which went on to become the band’s unofficial ‘official’ anthem.
Throughout the rest of the 90’s, Lord Adder went on to perform to packed venues around the local islands, supported ‘Girlschool’ (July 1995) Black Sabbath (August 1995), Iron maiden (January 1996), Saxon (September 1996) and Smokie (September 1999) and even placed 1st in the Carovana Rock Festival in Brescia Italy in February 1997.
Between 1996 and 1999 another 2 albums ‘Behind Closed Doors’ and ‘Site Of Evidence’ were released. ‘Site Of Evidence’ was the first of its kind in the local rock scene as it was recorded and filmed in a TV studio in front of a live audience and a VHS was released along with the album.
In November 2004 the band members wanted to pursue different musical paths and decided to dismantle the band to the dismay of many fans.
Fast forward to 15 years later – 2019- After a stint of silence, Lord Adder are making their come back to the music scene with a slightly different line-up featuring founding members Mark Spiteri on vocals, bass & song-writing and Ray Micallef on drums along with new members Charlie Muscat on guitar and Robert Tomasuolo also on guitar.
